Attorney General Fitch sent warning letters to 37 voice providers demanding that they act now to stop illegal robocalls being routed through their networks. “These calls and texts are more than a nuisance; they are often the gateway to scams. In June alone, people received more than 4.5 billion robocalls nationwide and we’re taking the decisive steps to hold the companies behind them accountable. I will continue to stand up for Mississippi consumers and protect them from these unsolicited and potentially harmful calls,” said Fitch.The providers warned today haven’t complied with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules about responding to government traceback requests, haven’t registered in the FCC’s Robocall Mitigation Databases, or haven’t filed a plan that describes how they will reduce illegal robocalls on their network. By disregarding these simple rules, these companies are allowing robocallers onto their phone networks and then passing their calls on to other downstream providers until they reach the phones of Mississippians.On average, people receive more than 13 robocalls every day. In 2022, Fitch and 50 attorneys general from across the country joined forces to create the Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force.

His original order no longer appears on the court docket, so the public no longer has access to it.Some attorneys who have reviewed the ruling questioned whether artificial intelligence was used to craft the order. Wingate did not respond to repeated questions about the order or whether he or his staff used AI to prepare it.
